Adventure Essays offers many different coaching options.
Private, Individualized Coaching
For the parent who wants to be assured that the student will get as much time and personal attention as the student needs, regardless of the number of hours or drafts coached, we charge a single fee per essay ($2 per word of the word limit):
For the Common App essay, the flat fee is $1300 (650 words x $2/word).
For supplemental essays, the fee varies based on each essay's word limit. For example,
$300 for a 150-word essay,
$500 for a 250-word essay,
$1000 for a 500-word essay,
Coaching can be done in person or by phone. In-person coaching can take place in our office in Laurel Canyon or at the student’s home or school (travel fees apply).
During the first session, we teach students everything they need to know about the application essay writing process, review prompts, brainstorm ideas, help choose a story and message, and create an outline for the first draft. Students then write the first draft and email it to the coach. Feedback can be given in person or by phone. The partnership between the student and the coach continues through several drafts until both are completely satisfied.
Private, Hourly Coaching
For those who just need help getting started or finishing up, and prefer to hire by the hour, coaches are available on an hourly basis.
$200 per hour: Private, Hourly Coaching
University of California Packages
Because we are based in Los Angeles, many of our students apply to the University of California. As of 2016, the UC now requires four 350-word essays. For students who hire us to work with them on all four UC Essays, the fee is $2800. For students who hire us to work with them on their Common App Essay and all four UC Essays, a 10% total discount is offered: $1300 + $2800 = $4100 - $410 (10% discount) = $3690.
ALL COACHING
Coaching can be done in person, by phone, or via Skype.
In-person coaching can take place in our home in Laurel Canyon or at the student’s home or school (travel fees apply).
Coaching via phone/Skype: we have coached many students remotely and find that it can be quite successful; some teens actually prefer to not work together in person; they feel less inhibited and enjoy the privacy of working from their own home. Also, working via technology makes our services available to foreign students applying to American universities.
Questions about our services/fees? Please do not hesitate to email us and we will attempt to address whatever your particular needs might be.
